IMPACT Network Hosts First Conference on Brain Health and Cannabis

Denver, CO – IMPACT Network, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing the number of clinical cannabis research studies in the United States, is hosting IMPACT: Brain Health & Cannabis. This conference focused on educating the medical cannabis patient community is taking place on Sunday June 12th from 12-4 pm at Crossroads Theater, 2590 Washington St, Denver, CO 80205.

This event, part of a monthly series on treating medical conditions with cannabis, was inspired by the need to provide medical marijuana education beyond what your average budtender knows.

“Many people don’t realize that cannabis products can be used to treat a variety of conditions including epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease. Cannabis is neuroprotective, meaning it’s good for your brain,” IMPACT Network Founder Dr. Michele Ross said.

Our Keynote Speaker is Dr. Kent Hutchison from the University of Colorado Boulder who will be speaking on how THC and CBD impact the brain as well as his ongoing clinical cannabis research studies. Additional speakers include Dr. Steven Bennett from EvoLab, Dr. Joseph Cohen from Holos Health, Dr. Paul Bregman, 10-year old epilepsy patient Alexis Bortell from Team Alexis, and Roger Martin from Grow For Vets.

Neurological conditions covered include epilepsy, migraine, neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, mental health conditions including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

At the event, pictures for the #MyHealthFreedom Campaign will be collected of cannabis patients and advocates. The Campaign’s mission is to change the perception and stigma surrounding cannabis patients by collecting 1 million pictures nationwide.

The event is sponsored by Verde Natural, Sante Denver, Stratos, Handy Networks, and the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation. Please email melanie@theimpactnetwork.org to secure press passes for the IMPACT: Brain Health & Cannabis event.

Registration for IMPACT: Brain Health & Cannabis is ongoing and can be completed by purchasing early bird tickets for $20 on Eventbrite via http://www.impactcannabis.org/june-event or $25 at the door.
